Call 423-365-6039 or email sleddog@gte.net for more info.
Please RSVP – we’ll have souvenirs for those that do!

If your dog will pull you on any sort of wheeled contraption from Racing Rig to Training Cart, from Bike to Scooter, from Skates to Sacco Cart – than come on out!  This run is NOT a race.  It is on a paved/graveled road.  The road is in good shape – but it does have some hills. If you want to come watch – feel free!!!!  We could use some volunteers to point the way for stragglers and to follow behind as a ‘Chase’ truck to pick up the weary.

What to Bring

*   Water for the dogs – be prepared to CARRY it with you

*   Orange vest – this is a road

*   Safety (Bike) helmet

*   Picnic lunch & a leash to TIE your dog while we eat – no loose dogs!!!!!

*   Warm clothes & running shoes

Directions - (East of Crossville, West of Harriman, TN)

*   I-40 to exit 338, Westel Rd/Rockwood

*   Turn NORTH & go passed the BP Station

*   Check Odometer

*   Take the First LEFT/West onto Mt Vernal Rd –NOT marked

*   Apx 1 mile from the BP is a large gravel road that turns RIGHT/North off of Mt Vernal Rd.  This is the staging area.  We will be running on Mt. Vernal Rd.  Do NOT block the driveway.

Run Description

*   Mile 1-1.5 - Mt Vernal Rd WEST apx 1.5 miles of relatively flat paved surfaces that wind around Bow Waters clear cut forests.  Vernal dead ends into Millstone Mtn Rd.

*   Mile 1.5-5 - Turn RIGHT/North onto Millstone Mtn Rd.  This is paved and hilly, gradual climbs up and down. There are apx 5 clusters of houses – no loose dogs that we could find.

*   Mile 5 – Beware-Game-Warden-Is-Watching Sign, a BIG hill, powerlines, and a cemetery at the top of the hill. LUNCH

For the brave of heart, the snow has NOT melted up here

*   Mile 6-8 - SNOW-COVERED roads, frozen mud holes & the GORGEOUS overlook at the Quarry.  Public road that is NOT well maintained for cars – perfectly fine for dogs.

Then the run reverses itself.

Run as far as you are comfortable. Take breaks.  Sit and watch the birds and the clouds.  Don’t get hurt.  Don’t get your dogs hurt.  We have all day to do this.
