Description: 5-miles uphill, lunch at the cemetery, and 5-miles downhill, on PAVED roads.
Directions:
I-40 to exit 338, Westel Rd/Rockwood. Turn NORTH & go passed the BP Station. Check Odometer. Take the First LEFT/West onto Mt Vernal Rd –NOT marked. Apx 1 mile from the BP is a large gravel road that turns RIGHT/North off of Mt Vernal Rd.  This is the staging area.  We will be running on Mt. Vernal Rd.  Do NOT block the driveway.
Weather & Times: 35 degrees & foggy when we started at 9 am.  First teams at the cemetery at 10:15.  Last teams in by 11:00.  Sunny and 45 degrees on top.  Decided to call ourselves Tennessee MUSH. Left cemetery at noon.  1/4 mile from the top it was cloudy again, the last 1.5 miles the ground had thawed and the gravel roads were mucky -- but it cooled the dogs off.  First teams in at 1:00, last by 2:00.
