Celeste Dreamwalker Pressley "Celeste"
b. 9/23/98, 23"/70#, Alaskan Malamute female
AKC# WP87414106
breeders: Wesley & Sheryl Vandergrift of Hartville, MO

Dumped at a shelter in South Carolina right before Christmas.  The shelter workers & volunteers work very hard to save what they can, but the realities of a municipal kill shelter are that 11y don't stand a chance without a Christmas Miracle -- in this case, two Christmas Miracles -- Allison & Pam.  Thanks, Allison, for getting the word out and getting her out of the shelter.  And thanks, once again, Pam, for a long road trip to save another Malamute.

Celeste is looking for SPONSORS to help with her vet and ongoing care.  She was switched to Eukanuba puppy food as soon as her blood panel came back healthy.  And an exam & x-ray revealed a little arthritis in the hips and lower spine (perfectly normal for a Southern Belle of her advanced age) so we are putting her on:

Chrondroitin/Glucosamine/MSM 2000mg/1500mg/200mg
Fish Oil 3000mg
Vitamin E 200mg
Yucca 400mg
Super 50 B-complex 50mg, etc.

She was dumped by her owners before Christmas, dumped in a kill shelter, and she is a little lost.  Her breeder has been no help.  But she has a warm bed as long as she needs it.  She joins 11y Cali, 13y Jonathan, and 15y Tubby as permanent residents who need a Sponsor to help with their monthly expense.

At the shelter in Greenville, SC
-- Why am I here?

Timeline
12/__/2009 - Shelter gives her dhppc (annual booster), bordatella, strongid b/c, and a shot of penicillin on intake.  Adoption fee is paid by Nannette -- thanks, Nannette!

12/18/2009 - Travels to TN, thanks Allison & Pam!

12/21/2009 - Vet visit here in TN.  Celeste weighs 76#, she has advanced arthritis in both hips and both shoulders, and she is mostly incontinent. The good news is heartworm negative, fecal negative, and blood panel looks good considering her age.

So she's on Prion 50mg 2x/day for incontinence and I'll be getting her some Red Clover when I can get to town. She's on Rimadyl 75mg 2x/day for pain.

And Dr. Matt came through on the bill as well... <G>

Exam - no charge
Fecal - no charge
X-ray series - no charge
Heartworm - $30
Blood panel $50 (instead of $120)
Rimadyl 75mg 60ea $65 (month's supply)
Prion 50mg 50mg 60ea $30 (month's supply)
Total $175

Thanks Rebecca for helping with her Vet bill.  Thanks Antonia for helping with her monthly meds.
