2009 Wayeh CELESTIAL litter Notes
| August 18, 2009 - Sunny & daughter Bright have been living with
Smoke. At the first signs of their heat cycles, I separated
them. And that was fine. But a little history lesson - mama
Sunny decided when she was almost 2yo that she REALLY wanted to go play
with Nikko. And she climbed a 6' fence to do so. And 9 weeks
later had TEN puppies, the SUN litter. So knowing this, I put
THREE fences between Sunny & Bright and the handsome Smoke...
three fences was not enough. Bright climbs just as well as her
mother did 4 years ago.
Note to self: roof the kennels where the boys are in order to protect
their virtue from my hussy girls.

| Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - Day 65 - Bright whelps 9 puppies. Like
mother, like daughter. 5 sable/white girls, 4 sable/white boys -- all
sables like Bright, her father Yogi, and
her mother's father Charles -- couldn't
ask for better models than those. |
Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 1w - Gorgeous colors are coming through...
the
girls
the
boys
From this restricted color pallet, I would speculate that Bright is
dominant for gray as her cousin Nikko was before her. She was bred
to a seal & produced none, and sable is dominant and a modifier, so
you don't count that. |
| Wednesday, Oct 28 - At 1w you can hold them still until they settle,
then take your picture -- quickly. After this, they will probably
be two wiggly to get group shots, unless you like the back of their
ears.
From the WayehMals egroup for Wayeh puppy buyers: Got group shots and individual pics tonight -- they are 1w. Had to wait until Bright went out to potty, stole all the boys took pictures hurriedly while she banged on the door, put them back and let her in. She sniffed over everybody, counting noses, suspicious, but settled down while I worked on cropping and sizing pictures..... the next time she went out, I stole the girls <GBG> Bright is convinced SOMETHING is going on, but she can't figure out exactly what......
> The question was asked on list, "Sidney, you mentioned that Bright was counting noses, and I've never considered it before, but she must have a way of keeping track of the
puppies, as you say. Do you think she is cataloging their scents, or is it something else. How fascinating this is!"
Stella & Sonny Boy, Sunny's kids
Great question, and I've thought about it a lot. Some bitches can count, some cannot. When I take a puppy away from mama, for whatever reason, I like to take two, and then bring one back. Moms seem over joyed at a return, instead of worried about the missing. Yet. some moms will give me a flat stare -- I know you did it, bring him back. It's weird you out to have a dog look at you like that, look right into you, and you'll feel guilty even if you didn't do anything wrong <G>
> Who was it with that look? -- Zeevie, Sunny's neice
Bright, with her cute little ears plastered against her skull, her little lip stuck out, eyes squinty..... Sunny & Sera have done this before, they clearly recall the coming days when they will be begging people, take a puppy, take two, here's another one, take it too, I'll pack his bags. Bright is still at the MINE stage.
Funny thing, tho, Sunny & Bright's crates are side by side and when they are coming back inside from potty breaks, if I don't drop the sheet over Sunny's crate, Bright won't go into her crate because Sunny GRRRS at her.... "Those puppies are also MY puppies in your crate, little girl.... " Bright, being an obedient daughter will sit promptly and whine until I drop Sunny's sheet and she can scurry into her own crate with her own puppies..... Sunny doesn't have a problem with her except walking past her own litter of puppies, then they ALL belong to Sunny. |

November 10, 2009 (3w) - Boy, what a difference a week makes.
It's hard to match up faces because their masks change so quickly, but
the stack pictures show color patterns and that doesn't change.
Group pics are always fun and today it was like the circus came to
town. When I'm working on the computer or watching a movie in the
evening, I always hold a puppy, or two, and they are getting fond of
stuff that blows up.
